How Long Are You Waiting to Start a Family After Getting Married?

By The LSV Team · March 17, 2026

I wouldn't want to start a family immediately but also depends on existing plans before we get married, like travelling and career. But if it was completely up to me, I would not want to still be paying school fees in my 50s so I would not wait for more than a year before we start trying. I want us to enjoy ourselves a bit before we start.

In an ideal world, I don't want to start a family until 2-3 years after I get married because I want to enjoy my husband, travel and explore the world with my husband before I take on the responsibilities and commitment that children bring. I want to live a baby girl lifestyle most important and get to know my husband better.

As soon as possible. Like immediately even. I am not getting younger, and I love kids so I don't want to waste any time.

I want to start immediately; it is what I have always wanted. The longest I can wait is 1 month or 3 months.

After 6 months. I want to properly prepare for the changes that will come after, cruise and have fun with my husband. So a bit of time to plan will be good.
